Birth Day Live

Discovery Health’s groundbreaking series Birth Day Live has been produced and directed by BARD Entertainment since its inception in 2002. This live, unedited, 10-hour show was broadcast for four years from 3 different hospitals across America, providing an intimate and rare look at the birthing process—while focusing on the moms, dads, doctors and nurses at the heart of its stories.

The show annually employed over 200 people, utilizing 50 cameras, 47.5 miles of cable, 150 microphones and a detailed satellite plan to link the sites and broadcast live. Birth Day Live’s directing team has received 2 Emmy nominations for Outstanding Special Class Directing—and over the four years that Birth Day Live aired, it gave the Discovery Health Channel some of its highest prime time ratings in the network’s history.
