The Nunsense series was created by Danny Goggin, a man whose goal was to make people laugh. The Cleveland Plain Dealer wrote about Nunsense, “If laughter cures all ills, the ‘Nunsense‘ musicals will make doctors obsolete.” Danny succeeded beyond his wildest dreams: Nunsense ran for ten years in New York, becoming the second longest running off-Broadway show in history. It has since become an international phenomenon that’s been translated into 26 languages with more than 6,000 productions worldwide.

The television version, directed by Goggin and David Stern and starring Rue McClanahan as Reverend Mother, was shown on PBS and the A&E Network. The original’s success on television (Telly Award, Emmy nominated) spawned productions of the rest of the series, including Nunsense, Nunsense II – The Second Coming, Sister Amnesia’s Country Western Nunsense Jamboree, Nuncrackers, Nunsensations, Messhugah-Nuns! and Nunset Boulevard.
