Stop the World – I Want to Get Off is a musical with book, music, and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. The musical, which starred Anthony Newley in the West End, is a thought-provoking tale about the fleeting nature of worldly success. As the character Littlechap, he climbs the ladder of success—but his world is constantly accelerating. Only in old age does Littlechap find out that his successes were superficial, and his true and only love was his wife Evie. Memorable songs from the show include “What Kind of Fool Am I?” and “Once in a Lifetime.” This remake was taped before a live audience, and starred Peter Scolari and Stephanie Zimbalist.
