The 25th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards

The National Television Academy presented the 25th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in NYC. The milestone event was attended by 800 people, the largest audience in the event’s history. The event was hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Darryl Hammond, and the evening’s presenters were a who’s who of broadcast news—including Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, Gwen Ifill, Dan Rather, Diane Sawyer, Wolf Blitzer, and Brian Williams. Just prior to his retirement, Tom Brokaw received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his 38 years of broadcast journalism, 21 of which he spent behind NBC’s Nightly News desk.
