WENDY'S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN
The Wendy's High School Heisman and corresponding scholarship was created by Wendy's founder Dave Thomas in 1994. Bard has produced and directed the broadcast coverage of the ceremony since 1995, first from New York City's legendary Downtown Athletic Club, then home of the Heisman Trophy, and in later years at the Playstation Theater in Times Square, sharing the venue with the collegiate Heisman ceremony. The show has aired on ESPN in edited form featuring profiles of the finalists and the award announcement.
THE 25TH ANNUAL NEWS & DOCUMENTARY EMMYS
The National Television Academy presented the 25th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in NYC. The milestone event was attended by 800 people, the largest audience in the event’s history. The event was hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Darryl Hammond, and the evening’s presenters were a who’s who of broadcast news—including Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, Gwen Ifill, Dan Rather, Diane Sawyer, Wolf Blitzer, and Brian Williams. Just prior to his retirement, Tom Brokaw received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his 38 years of broadcast journalism, 21 of which he spent behind NBC’s Nightly News desk.
DISCOVERY HEALTH MEDICAL HONORS
For the first time ever, the Discovery Health Channel brought the nation’s leading health organizations together to celebrate and honor the best of the medical field. The event, which was hosted by Regis Philbin and broadcast from the D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., was held to commend the achievements of individual health care providers, institutions, and clinical researchers who have made tremendous contributions to the field of medicine and to the lives of people around the world.
BARD Entertainment was proud to be the producer and director of the live Discovery Health Channel Medical Honors, which was then broadcast by Discovery Health as part of a two-hour special.
