PAPAL VISIT OF POPE FRANCIS TO NEW YORK CITY
From touchdown to liftoff, BARD provided wall-to-wall coverage of Pope Francis's visit to New York for 48 hours. Images of the streets leading to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, filled with thousands who waved flags and chanted the Pope's name, were followed by a moving Vespers service inside the Cathedral. His second day in NY brought His Holiness to the 9/11 Memorial where he prayed at the south pool before descending below ground to Foundation Hall. There, he joined several of the city’s religious leaders for an interfaith service, a remaining slurry wall of the Twin Towers serving as a their backdrop and a powerful reminder of the need for all to come together. Equally moving was an intimate gathering with students at Our Lady Queen of Angels School in East Harlem. The joy Pope Francis experienced as he interacted with the children was felt by all in attendance, and by those watching around the world.
